Retirement Planning Seminars

The Department of Retirement Systems (DRS) will be presenting several seminars covering state retirement plans offered at WSU (PERS, TRS, LEOFF).  These seminars will provide overviews of your retirement plan, and ensure you are familiar with the various features these plans provide.  In addition to information on required retirement plans, information on the Deferred Compensation Program (DCP), a voluntary retirement plan, will also be covered.

Please see the chart below for times and locations of each session.  All sessions are available via video-conference.  To identify specific locations, please visit the AMS calendar.  If your location is not listed, you can request an additional site through ams.videoconference.meeting@wsu.edu.

If you haven’t set up an online account with DRS, you can do so at www.drs.wa.gov.  An online account provides access to your account accumulations, online calculators and service credit accruals.

 

PERS Plan 1, 2, 3/TRS Plan 3/LEOFF Plan 2

March 3, 2017 at 8:30am to 10:00am, in Lighty 405

This session covers the Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) Plans 1, 2 and 3, the Teachers Retirement System (TRS) Plan 3, and the Law Enforcement Officer and Fire Fighter (LEOFF) Plan 2.  It is ideal for those who are close to retirement, and will cover items such as benefit calculations, eligibility criteria, and the Deferred Compensation Program (DCP).

PERS Plans 2 and 3/TRS Plan 3/LEOFF 2

March 3, 2017 at 11:30am to 12:30pm, in Lighty 405

This session covers PERS Plans 2 and 3, and TRS Plan 3, and is ideal for all participants, during any stage of their career.  Topics will include essential information on each plan and the DCP plan that will help you to make sound retirement choices.

Deferred Compensation Program

March 3, 2017 at 10:30am to 11:00am in Lighty 405
and 1:30pm  to 2:00pm in French Administration 139

This session covers the Deferred Compensation Program (DCP), including plan features, fund options and account access.  The DCP can be used to help lower taxable income, as well as save more for retirement.

The state of Washington has recently approved an automatic enrollment into the DCP for all new full time employees hired on or after January 1, 2017.  This session would benefit new hires who are interested in participating in the plan, even if they’ve chosen to opt out.  The DCP can be enrolled in at any time.

Voluntary Retirement Programs
