Teddi Phares, who lends her expertise to the Human Resource Services team at Washington State University, was recently appointed to a regional higher education organization.

Phares is serving as an at-large member of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources’ Western Region Board of Directors. Her appointment runs through 2026.

“This new role gives me an opportunity to keep an active pulse and provide feedback regarding issues that may have already impacted Washington State higher education institutions or what may be coming in the future,” Phares said. “What excites me most is providing support and guidance to local, statewide and regional chapter leaders about learning and development opportunities they can bring back to their institutions.”

As a senior HR strategic partner at WSU Spokane, Phares provides guidance on employee relations, talent acquisition, and issues of classification and compensation, among other topics. She’s previously served as an officer with the Washington State Chapter of CUPA-HR, including as its president.

In her new role, Phares leads the Western Region Board’s communications work group as well as serving on the CUPA-HR National Public Policy Committee.

CUPA-HR provides institutions of higher education resources and expertise in organizational and professional development.
