This timeline page lists the regular HR events and actions that happen throughout the year that Personnel Admins should be aware of and shares links to the relevant guidance and instructions.
January
Who is involved
Personnel Admins including AFOs, HR Partners, and Compensation Partners.
What actions are happening
- With the start of semester, be aware of the HRS timelines for recruiting and hiring and the associated deadlines for Form I-9 completion and the sexual misconduct statement
- Minimum wage and L&I overtime eligibility changes are processed
- January’s staffing and compensation blackout dates, as part of the FLSA changes, take place early in the month
- The Student/Non-student Employee Type switch runs to ensure working students are in the correct employee type
- System-wide trainings are assigned on Jan 2 for the year
- Awareness for inclement weather and suspended operations
February

- Review your area’s semester end actions including closing unwanted positions
- Summer Hours starts
- Wildfire and Air Quality reminders
- Comp Time Payout for the Biennium
- I-9 Training reminder for those with the I-9 Coordinator Workday security role
- Faculty and staff on academic or 9 or 10-month appointments will have summer premiums and surcharges collected from the last paychecks of the Spring Semester.
June

- Approve all submitted time offs before fiscal year end to ensure accurate end of year reporting
- Attend the quarterly What’s New in Workday HCM live session
July

- Civil Service mass salary increase (MSI)
- July’s staffing and compensation blackout dates, as part of the Civil Service MSI, take place early in the month
