Photos

Use of stock photography is encouraged. Use of AI generated images is discouraged.

When inserting photos, use ones that show people who are relaxed and happy, or in the WSU system. The intent is for people to be authentic and for it to not look staged and faked. Interesting pics of landscapes and objects that relate to the subject are also OK.

Good Photo Examples

The next two images show relaxed people in authentic settings. They are welcoming and suggest real people doing real things.

The photos of objects below add interest to the page and are relevant to that page’s content. The typeset letters shot is at the top of the News page, representing the general category of News, and the little rock cairn on the shoreline represents calm and wellness.

Bad Photo Examples

Do not use images that are clearly staged and cringe inducing.

The following pics are like nails on a chalkboard or putting cream on your scone before the jam. It’s just wrong. Do not use these pictures, they are for illustrative purposes only.

Bad. Do not use.
Bad. Do not use.

Stock Photography Resources

Canva is a good resource for stock images, along with the royalty free sites, Unsplash and Pixabay.

Unsplash is a little sneaky and throws in paid images into its results, and you can spot those because they have a subtle “plus” logo in the top left of the thumbnail.
