Why This Training is Required

WSU is committed to maintaining a non-discriminatory environment for employees, students, and community members.

UPPM 10.60 exists to:

  • Prohibit discrimination and harassment in all forms
  • Support individuals who experience or report concerns
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal laws designed to protect individuals from discrimination and harassment

This policy applies broadly across the university community and is a foundational part of maintaining a safe, respectful workplace.

WSU’s Prohibiting Discrimination and Harassment training is required to meet both Washington State University policy and state and federal regulations related to discrimination and harassment.

Why It Matters to Your Work

Every employee plays a role in shaping the workplace environment. This training helps you recognize and respond to real situations that can impact others. Whether it’s something witnessed, experienced, or just doesn’t feel right, this course provides clarity on what to do, so you’re not left guessing about how to respond or where to go to for support.

While UPPM 10.60 sets expectations, this training goes further by helping you:

  • Understand how behaviors affect others
  • Respond appropriately and confidently in challenging situations
  • Contribute to a culture of respect, fairness, and accountability

At it’s core, UPPM 10.60 is about creating a work environment where everyone can do their job without fear of discrimination or harassment, and where support is available when it’s needed.
