What is a Learning Administrator and What Do They Do?

A Learning Administrator is a designated point of contact within an area, college, department, or school who supports learning in Percipio at the local level.

Learning Administrators are granted access to support their assigned audiences via specific Workday supervisory organizations. This access allows you to assist with training records, reporting, assignments, and common Percipio questions, bringing support closer to the learners and supervisors you work with every day.

Learning Administrators work in partnership with Learning & Organizational Development (LOD). While LOD provides centralized oversight and system‑level support, Learning Administrators play a key role in addressing local needs and context.

How Learning Administrators support their area(s)

Learning Administrator system permissions are granted with the expectation that they support learning beyond their own direct report’s training needs.

Core Responsibilities Within the Areas

Learning Administrators are generally responsible for supporting learning within their assigned area, college, department, or school, including:

  • Assisting learners and supervisors with training assignments and completion questions.
  • Running reports to support compliance, planning, or tracking needs.
  • Supporting employees and supervisors in your area with training history and completion questions.
  • Learning Administrators may also submit support tickets to Skillsoft directly when issues cannot be resolved locally or require vendor assistance.

What Learning Administrators are Not Expected to do Alone

Learning Administrators are not expected to:

  • Own troubleshooting for platform‑wide issues affecting users outside your assigned area.
  • Support learners outside of assigned audiences.
  • Interpret university policy without guidance.
  • Serve as the sole point of contact for system-level issues.

How Learning Administrators are Supported

Learning Administrators are not expected to step into this role and figure everything out on their own.

Learning & Organizational Development (LOD) provides training and support to help you understand and carry out the responsibilities of the role. This support is designed to build confidence over time and reflect the real, day‑to‑day needs of Learning Administrators.

  • Manage audiences and SupOrg access appropriately for their area.
  • Run reports, select the right report for the question being asked, and interpret the data.
  • Support employees and supervisors in their assigned area with common Percipio questions.
  • Troubleshoot course and system issues affecting their assigned audiences.

Ongoing and Refresher Support

Learning Administrator support is not limited to onboarding or initial access. Learning and Organizational Development (LOD) provides one-on-one guidance as questions arise, refresher support upon request, clarification when system changes, course updates, or new functionality may affect your area.

If you’re unsure how to approach a task or want to confirm you’re using tools effectively, or need help thinking through a scenario specific to your area, LOD is available to partner with you.
