Recommended Browser Settings

Percipio works best with Google Chrome, Firefox, and Safari, if using a Mac. At this time, Microsoft Edge does not consistently support the Percipio learning experience and is not recommended.
Like most cloud-based platforms, keeping your browser and operating system up to date plays an important role in how smoothly Percipio and courses run. Percipio supports the current version of supported browsers and one previous version, so using the latest version helps ensure the most reliable experience when launching courses, interacting with media, and recording course completion.
- Open your web browser.
- In the search bar, type: current version of Google Chrome (or browser you’re using)
- Look for results from the browser’s site; they’re usually the first or second item in the search results.
- Note the version number listed.
Open a panel below for browser specific information and instructions.

Browser Version
- Open Chrome.
- Select the three dots in the top-right corner of the screen.
- Choose Help, then About Google Chrome.
- Your browser version will appear on the screen. If the version you’re running is more than two versions behind (current and one version behind), you should update your browser to help prevent issues with launching or completing courses.
Browser Settings
Once you’ve confirmed your browser is up to date, the next step is to make sure Chrome is refreshed and ready for Percipio. Clearing your browser’s cookies and cache can help resolve loading issues and ensure course progress and completions are recorded correctly.
- Within Chrome, select the menu option (3 vertical dots), located in the upper right of the screen.
- Within the Delete browsing data dialog box, select All time for the Time range field.
- Ensure only Cached images and files, along with Cookies and other site data, are both selected, then select Delete data to start the process.
- Once this process is finished, you should be on the Privacy and Security tab, select Third-party cookies
- Cookies should be enabled (they are usually allowed by default). If you prefer to allow specific sites only, scroll down to Add each of the following sites: www.wsu.percipio.com and cdn2.percipio.com as exceptions.
- Once configured, please refresh your browser and try again.

Browser Version
- Open Firefox.
- Select the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner of the screen.
- Choose Help, then About Firefox.
- The version number will be displayed in the window that opens. If the version you’re running is more than two versions behind (current and one version behind), you should update your browser to help prevent issues with launching or completing courses.
Browser Settings
After checking that Firefox is on a supported version, it’s a good idea to clear saved browsing data. This helps remove outdated information that can interfere with launching content or tracking activity in Percipio.
- Click the Menu option at the top right and choose Settings from the drop-down.
- Select the Privacy & Security panel and scroll down to the Cookies and Site Data section.
- Click the Clear Data button, set it to Everything, then select Clear.
- Return to the main web browser window, refresh the page, and try the course again.

Browser Version
- Open Safari.
- From the menu bar at the top of your screen, select Safari.
- Choose About Safari.
- The version number will appear in a small pop-up window. If the version you’re running is more than two versions behind (current and one version behind), you should update your browser to help prevent issues with launching or completing courses.
Browser Settings
With your Safari version confirmed, the next step is to clear stored website data. Refreshing cookies and cache in Safari can help prevent issues with content playback and ensure a smoother experience in Percipio.
- In Safari on your Mac, choose Safari > Settings, then click Privacy.
- Click Manage Website Data.
- Select the option to Remove All Website Data.
- When prompted, click Remove Now.
- Close the Preferences window.
Operating system and Screen Resolution Considerations
Your operating system health and display settings also contribute to a smooth learning experience, particularly for WSU custom content, which is not native to Percipio. Percipio supports Windows 10 or 11 and macOS 10.15.4 or newer. A minimum screen resolution of 1024 × 768 is recommended to ensure course content, videos, and interactive elements display and respond as expected. Keeping your system up to date and within these display guidelines can help reduce interruptions and support accurate course completion.
Essential Guidelines

WSU’s custom content is not native to Percipio and is more sensitive to learner interaction and technical settings. Internet stability, screen resolution, browser health, and how you move through videos and interactive elements can all affect course performance and whether your completion records correctly.
Understand the key steps and best practices for handling interruptions, accessing resource links, and nd exiting the course properly so your progress and completion are saved.
Using the Exit Course function (if available)
When you have fully completed a course or reached a point in your training where you can no longer give the materials your undivided attention, use the Exit Course function if it’s available. This ensures the course closes cleanly and your progress is recorded properly.
Some courses, such as Skillsoft content and select Environmental Health and Safety trainings provided by a contracted vendor, do not include an Exit Course option. If you do not see Exit Course, you can safely close the browser tab or course window once all sections show as complete.
Accessing Resources in a Course
Before opening a file or link inside a course (like a PDF or website), right‑click the item and choose Open in a new tab or Open in a new window. This lets you view the material without leaving or restarting the course.
Moving Through a Course and Overall Progress
To ensure your progress and completion are recorded correctly, plan to complete the training in one sitting and move through the course at a steady pace, completing each section fully. Sections such as Best Practices or Contacts and Resources are part of the course and must be opened and acknowledged for the course to show as complete.
For most WSU custom courses, it’s recommended to use the prompts that display at the end of each lesson to advance to the next. These can appear as a red button, text, or an arrow. Before exiting the course, review your progress and confirm every section in the left navigation menu displays as completed with a red circle and white check mark. If one section does not show as complete, the course will continue to appear as unfinished, even if you’ve viewed the main content.
For custom courses that have been created in a micro-learning format, learners are urged to use the up/down arrows displayed in the upper right and lower right of the course player. Though there is no progress bar present in a micro-learning course, learners will notice that the down arrow is replaced with a circular arrow when the end of the course has been reached.
If you activate media, such as video or audio, allow it to fully finish playing before moving on.
Common issues to avoid:
- Skipping sections such as Best Practices or Resources/Contacts
- Assuming the course is complete without checking the progress indicator
- Using the navigation menu to move through a course
- Advancing before the audio or video finishes playing
- Moving through the lessons too quickly
- Leaving the course idle for extended periods, which can cause a time-out
Handling Interruptions
If the course was interrupted or did not complete as expected, it’s best to start the course from the beginning after clearing your browser cache. This helps reset the course and allows the system to track your progress correctly. Review the recommended settings for Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari (Mac users) above.
Properly Ending Your Percipio Training Session
Because Percipio is a cloud‑based learning platform, it’s important to intentionally end your training session to help prevent progress from being lost due to time‑out or inactivity. The system does not automatically log users out right away and may keep a session active for up to seven days of continuous inactivity, which can affect how progress is saved.
When you’re finished with your training, use the Logout option found in the left navigation of your learning dashboard. Logging out immediately ends your session and helps ensure your progress and completion data are properly retained.
Percipio Help

Self-guided Help and Resources
Learners can get self-guided help from two sources:
- Check out our FAQ’s & Troubleshooting Common Issues for information on using Percipio for WSU Learners and Learning Administrators.
- The Percipio Learner Knowledge Base contains general Percipio information and guides for a wide variety of topics.

Who to Contact if You Need More Help
Learning Administrators support employees across the university by helping connect learners to required and optional training in Percipio. Assigned by area, college, or campus, they provide guidance on training access, completion, and compliance to support employee learning and development.
Contact your assigned Learning Administrator when you have questions about required training, assignments, or access to learning content in Percipio. They can also help if you encounter issues with enrollment, completion records, or need guidance on training requirements specific to your area, college, or campus.
If you know who your area’s Learning Administrator is, they’re your best first point of contact for questions about training, assignments, and learning support within your area. Learning Administrators work closely with Learning & Organizational Development (LOD) and can often help quickly resolve questions or guide you to the right next step.
You can contact LOD directly if you’re unsure who your Learning Administrator is, your question spans multiple areas or campuses, or you need additional support beyond what your Learning Administrator can provide.
