Cybersecurity Awareness & Prevention

Cybersecurity plays a critical role in protecting the information, systems, and people that keep WSU running.

Every day, employees interact with digital tools, data, and communications that could be targeted by cyber threats. To support a secure and resilient university environment, WSU provides a series of cybersecurity awareness trainings designed to help employees recognize and respond to common risks. These trainings focus on real-world scenarios such as phishing attempts, social engineering, and protecting sensitive information.

Digital Accessibility Assessment

Digital accessibility is essential to ensuring that every member of the WSU community can fully engage with the information, services, and opportunities we provide. Whether you build websites, create documents, send email communications, or upload multimedia, your work contributes to creating digital spaces, which are required to meet certain digital accessibility standards.

Employee Rights & Responsibilities Under UPPM 10.60

Every member of the WSU community deserves to work, learn, and participate in an environment free from discrimination and harassment.

UPPM 10.60, the university’s policy prohibiting discrimination and harassment, outlines our shared responsibility to foster a respectful, inclusive environment, and what to do when concerns arise. This required training helps you understand your role in supporting a community where everyone can fully access opportunities and feel respected.

Hazing Prevention at WSU

Hazing prevention is part of how we take care of each other at WSU. Whether you work closely with students or primarily with colleagues, everyone plays a role in creating an environment where people feel safe, respected, and supported.

This training helps build awareness, strengthen prevention, and ensure employees understand how to respond if concerns arise.

University Ethics Policy UPPM 10.65

University Ethics Policy training is part of Washington State University’s commitment to maintaining a workplace built on integrity, accountability, and public trust. It’s designed to help you recognize ethical considerations in your day-to-day work and feel confident navigating situations that may not always be clear-cut.

These recommended optional trainings focus on best practices, shared expectations, and good‑to‑know topics that many employees find helpful.

Family Education Rights and Policy Act (FERPA)

This on‑demand training provides an overview of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and how it applies to daily work at WSU. Required for employees with access to education or employee records, the course supports responsible handling of sensitive information and helps maintain the trust placed in the university as a public institution.

Administrative Policy Manuals Training

This live instructor‑led training is designed to help employees better understand WSU’s administrative policy and procedure manuals, including where to find policies, how to navigate the policies website, and how the policy revision process works.

Records Retention & Disposition Training

Formerly Business Policies, Procedures, & Record Retention, this live instructor-led course introduces Washington State University employees to the fundamentals of records retention and disposition. You’ll learn what counts as a public record, why retention matters, how to apply university and state retention schedules, and your role in managing records, whether they’re paper, electronic, or digital communications.

Public Records and Records Requests

As a public institution, Washington State University must provide, upon request, any records or documents that pertain to our activities. This live instructor-led course aims to cover the fundamental aspects of Public Records Law.

Whistleblower Act

All WSU employees at all levels within the organization are encouraged to participate in this training. The intent of the Whistleblower Act, enacted by the Washington State Legislature, is to provide an avenue for state employees to report improper governmental actions. Contact the WSU’s Office of Internal Audit to inquire about learning options.

Learning Administrators support employees across the university by helping connect learners to required and optional training in Percipio. Assigned by area, college, or campus, they provide guidance on training access, completion, and compliance to support employee learning and development.

Contact your assigned Learning Administrator when you have questions about required training, assignments, or access to learning content in Percipio. They can also help if you encounter issues with enrollment, completion records, or need guidance on training requirements specific to your area, college, or campus.

If you know who your area’s Learning Administrator is, they’re your best first point of contact for questions about training, assignments, and learning support within your area. Learning Administrators work closely with Learning & Organizational Development (LOD) and can often help quickly resolve questions or guide you to the right next step.
