Internal Resources
ADA Compliance: The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability. The ADA includes both mental and physical medical conditions. Title II of the ADA applies to the university and includes regulations covering access to university programs and services. WSU provides access, equal opportunity and reasonable accommodations in its services, programs, activities, education, and employment for individuals with disabilities.
ADVANCE at WSU: The vision of ADVANCE is to develop an inclusive research institution whose faculty are supported by a system that promotes career-long excellence for all. We focus on obstacles to recruiting, hiring, retaining, and advancing an exceptional, diverse faculty.
Discrimination, Sexual Harassment, and Sexual Misconduct Prevention: WSU is committed to being an institution that demonstrates trust and respect for all persons and cultivates individual and institutional integrity in all that we do. All WSU Faculty and Staff are required to complete our Discrimination, Sexual Harassment, and Sexual Misconduct Prevention training within their first six months of employment.
Equity 101: Defining and Cultivating Inclusive Excellence at WSU: In this interactive workshop, the presenters will articulate WSU values related to equity and inclusive excellence as participants both in person and via AMS engage in exploring key terms related to equity and inclusion, examine notions of intent versus impact, and build knowledge around affirming language. This workshop is intended as a pilot to help shape a developmental series for participants to gain and build upon knowledge, skills, caring, and action across the institution.
Equity 102: Who are You? Fostering Critical Self Awareness to Engage Across Difference: Equity 102, the second session in the new Equity Workshop Series, encourages participants to foster critical self-awareness as they explore their own identities, including their unique characteristics and social locations. Throughout the workshop, participants will discuss how their identities shape their beliefs, values, expectations, perceptions, and actions and develop skills for engaging across difference at WSU. Equity 101 is a prerequisite for this training.
Gender Identity/Expression and Sexual Orientation Resource Center: (GIESORC) leads Washington State University’s ongoing work towards an inclusive campus culture for LGBTQ students, faculty, and staff in all our locations.
Campus Pride, a nationally-recognized organization dedicated to making colleges and universities safer, more inclusive spaces for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) individuals, named Washington State University in their Top 25 LGBTQ Universities and Colleges.

Office of Equity and Diversity: Equity and Diversity is an important aspect of everyday life at Washington State University. Resources for Recruitment and Retention of Women in Higher Education: Washington State University (WSU) Human Resource Services (HRS) provides a variety of resources that focus on the recruitment of women in higher education.
Spokane WSU Diversity Committee: A group of faculty, staff, and students committed to transforming the campus environment by challenging individuals and systems to create and ensure a climate inclusive of equity and diversity.
Women’s Resource Center: The Women’s Resource Center is an integral part of Washington State University’s commitment to equity and diversity. The Women’s Resource Center develops programs to celebrate women’s diversity and contributions, while actively confronting societal challenges and obstacles through activism and working for change. The center offers a wide array of programs and services for all students, faculty members and staff.
