Dr. Tim Ginn receives 2022 Crimson Spirit Recognition
Human Resource Services is pleased to announce Dr. Tim Ginn with the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering as a winner of the Crimson Spirit Award for this quarter!
Dr. Ginn had a wonderful nomination and it is easy to see why he is so deserving of the award. When the department was faced with the loss of their Department Chair, Dr. Ginn stepped up and helped lead his team and department. As his nominator writes, Dr. Ginn “rallied to work with faculty to organize and assign 16 teaching assistants to their respective classes for the fall semester, giving priorities to classes with high enrollment. This task included a review of the student capabilities, interests, and their academic background. He worked directly with the graduate students to support their development into global citizens.”
Over the last year, Dr. Ginn has faced numerous challenges and has risen to meet all of them. At the beginning of the Fall 2021 semester, he accepted the role of Interim Associate Chair, a role in which he accepted several responsibilities in addition to is teaching, research, and advising portfolio. When the department found themselves without their Graduate Academic Advisor on extremely short notice, “Dr. Ginn jumped in and put all the hats on! He found all relevant academic advisor trainings and signed up for as many as he could. He met with Dean of the Graduate School Dr. Lisa Gloss to get direction on how to become the best graduate academic advisor he could be.” It is evident that Dr. Ginn cares deeply for the success of his department as well as for the success of his students as well.
Dr. Ginn’s nominator expressed why he is so deserving of the award, saying, “We are so fortunate to have Dr. Tim Ginn on our team. He has shown outstanding leadership and service to CEE. He is a role model in regard to engagement, as engagement implies a commitment to sharing and reciprocity between campuses and communities, integrating knowledge sources and providing learning opportunities for staff and students. It is apparent that Dr. Ginn’s actions are all in the best interest of WSU students.”
We are so lucky to have Dr. Tim Ginn on our list of Crimson Spirit Award honorees. Congratulations, Dr. Ginn!
