Elliot‑Cheslek now vice president and chief human resource officer
In recognition of her responsibilities as chief human resource officer for Washington State University, President Kirk Schulz has elevated Theresa Elliot-Cheslek with a new designation.
Elliot-Cheslek, who’s served in the role since 2013, will now have the full title of vice president and chief human resource officer.
“Human Resource Services at WSU is responsible for recruitment activities, benefits, employee and labor relations as well as staff training and professional development,” Elliot-Cheslek said. “This clarification acknowledges the breath of responsibilities my office handles and I am grateful for the president’s recognition.”
Elliot-Cheslek returned to her alma mater in Human Resource Services in 1999. During her time as a student, she played for the women’s basketball team while earning a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Sociology. She’s held positions as a consultant, assistant director and associate director, in addition to her current role.
In March of 2019, Elliot-Cheslek was awarded the 2019 Western Region Distinguished Service Award from the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources.
Prior to returning to WSU, Elliot-Cheslek held human resource positions in the hospitality industry and the Spokane Regional Health District.
Elliot-Cheslek is certified as a senior professional in human resources with the Society for Human Resource Management and certified senior professional in human resources with the HR Certification Institute.
