Erin Armstrong, fiscal analyst, WSU Everett, received a 2019 Crimson Spirit Award.

Her nominator notes that Ms. Armstrong “is one of the busiest people that I know but she still makes time to provide superior quality service.”

Ms. Armstrong is customer-oriented and committed to providing others with the best service. Her expertise allows her to answer most questions, but if she doesn’t have a ready reply she will research and follow up as soon as possible. An example of this commitment to service is the way she helped award tuition waivers to a new group of Student Ambassadors. Ms. Armstrong worked with a colleague in Pullman to determine which funds could appropriately be used for the tuition waivers, and then worked with colleagues at WSU Everett to apply that knowledge. “It may sound simple, but this was a rather complex situation that involved quite a bit of investigating on her part,” explains her nominator.

Not only does Ms. Armstrong work on behalf of the WSU staff and faculty, she also works with students.  There are around eight student groups on the campus, and she tracks their funds. “I have seen Erin develop wonderful relationships with the treasurers of these groups,” educating them on a variety of University procedures and requirements.  She is committed to helping others and ensuring they have the information they need.

“In addition to being the fiscal analyst, Erin has jumped in to support Human Resource type responsibilities such as completing hiring paperwork and working with new hires to complete their I-9s. She also serves on the S&A Fees committee, which… works with students and staff members to determine funding for student groups for the following fiscal year. Finally, Erin represents the Everett campus on several Workday implementation committees. Needless to say, she is extremely busy and yet she always makes the time for others if they need assistance. She wants to ensure that folks get the appropriate answers to their questions and she provides superior quality service to anyone she encounters.”

Ms. Armstrong is recognized for providing superior service, exceeding expectations, and demonstrating genuine interest in helping colleagues and students.
