Your LOD team is focused on progress today, while laying the foundation for what’s ahead. Here’s a look at what we’re working on for 2026 to make your learning experience easier and more impactful.

What’s Happening Now

Available On-Demand: Navigating Overtime Challenges: Proven Strategies for Effective Management

Now available in an on-demand option, this equivalent of the live course provides supervisors with an understanding of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and Washington State Minimum Wage Act (WAMA) as they relate to overtime and wage compliance. Additional topics covered: How to manage overtime eligible employees, appropriate use of flex-time, and accurate time reporting in Workday.

New for 2026: Employee Rights and Responsibilities Under EP15

Starting January 2, 2026, WSU’s annual discrimination and harassment training will appear in Percipio as two shorter modules instead of one long course, making learning more accessible and effective. This training also has a new name: Employee Rights and Responsibilities Under UPPM 10.60, reflecting recent policy consolidation by the Office of Policy, Records, and Forms. Watch for these changes in your 2026 assignments!

Course updates:

The course previously known as Understanding and Managing Leave has a new name: Introduction to Medical Leaves and Absence. While the name has changed, the course continues to provide essential guidance on managing medical leave processes effectively.

Bonus: For ease, learners can search for either title in Percipio to locate the course.

At the end of December, the Wildfire Smoke Journey will be updated to remove the link to the Washington State L&I Smoke Rules. This change will eliminate the Journey and make the WSU Wildfire Smoke Training a standalone course.

Lastly, your LOD and HRS teams have been hard at work updating the WSU New Employee Orientation Journeys, now in their final stages. The New Employee System Orientation has been fully refreshed and, along with other updated content, is anticipated to be available for assignment to new employees at the start of 2026. We’ve also refined the structure of the journey to focus on once-upon-hire requirements, while the annually recurring WSU All-Employee Mandatory Training will be assigned to new employees separately. While some minor edits may continue into Q1, any impact on learners is expected to be minimal.

What’s Next

Continuing to update and streamline Percipio audiences for better reporting and easier management.

Formerly Ethics in Public Service, this course will debut under its new name in 2026: University Ethics Policy UPPM 10.65. Coming in Q1, the update introduces two shorter modules to replace the current 30-minute course, reducing time commitment while enhancing your learning experience. Stay tuned for launch details!

As part of the broader streamlining of university policies led by the Office of Policy, Records, and Forms, we anticipate continued content updates throughout the first half of 2026. Learners impacted by these changes will receive individual guidance to ensure their course progress is retained before updates are implemented in Percipio.
