We are excited to announce Daniel Thurman, Director of Belonging & Employee Success with Finance and Administration within WSU Global Campus, as a Crimson Spirit Award Recipient.

Thurman’s nominees had many great things to say. Daniel came into his new position and expressed genuine interest in everyone he met. He went out of his way to ensure everyone was included in DEIB committee initiatives and went above and beyond to invite everyone to a DEIB committee lunch in Pullman so that everyone could meet the committee and make connections. He has been so incredibly helpful when it comes to being a resource for EmpowerALL and for students. “He also hypes us up and reminds us that we’re powerful humans that are capable of whatever we set our minds to.” Daniel creates a safe space, and we are so happy that he is a part of the Coug family, he truly makes the world a better place.

Daniel is the kindest human, and makes you feel safe and heard when you’re being vulnerable or need reassurance. He is an excellent set of ears when you need someone to listen, and he is an amazing resource when you need any help. He is so uplifting and in the short time he’s been at WSU he has made such a difference. He’s willing to take on challenges and collaborate with students and give his specific perspectives. Truly the best human.

Daniel has shown that he should receive the Crimson Spirit Award through anticipating the needs of others and taking appropriate action, by exceeding expectations of his job, by presenting noteworthy extra effort, and by making outstanding contributions to the WSU Community!
