Maegan Victoria Murray receives 2021 Crimson Spirit Recognition
Maegan Victoria Murray, Director of Communication for WSU Tri-Cities, received Crimson Spirit recognition.
Her nominator says, “As assistant director of marketing and communication Maegan works until the job is done always putting in extra effort when needed and this has been even more evident during the pandemic. She single-handedly puts out the Cougar Weekly which provides vital weekly information to the campus. This has been especially time-consuming and critical to keeping people informed while we are working from home. She has the added responsibility of sending out the weekly Covid updates every Tuesday after the incident command team gives its campus update. These efforts are keeping the WSU community informed and connected during a time when people can feel very isolated from their colleagues.”
Additionally, Maegan has also shown dedication to student success. She recently worked on creating WSU Tri-Cities’ first weekly newsletter called Connected Coug, which was created with the intention of providing students with information to help them be as successful as possible. She has also spearheaded a recent marketing campaign highlighting WSU Tri-Cities Spanish-speaking student population and females in engineering. Her nominee says “She is always mindful of the need to ensure our marketing materials are inclusive and contribute to WSU’s vision of being a place where all students feel welcome and have the opportunity to thrive.”
Maegan’s efforts and contribution to her team are appreciated by a great many people. On Maegan’s 5 year anniversary at WSU, Chancellor Haynes noted “Maegan makes a difference by being Maegan, Her calm demeanor and thoughtful input are welcome in any situation. She is smart and thoughtful, challenges others when she disagrees and is the ultimate team player. She steps in where ever and whenever she is needed.”
Ms. Murray is recognized for exceeding expectations, providing superior quality service, presenting noteworthy extra effort, and superior efforts in support of university strategic goals.
