Susan M. Lewis receives 2021 Crimson Spirit Recognition
Susan M. Lewis, TRAC Coordinator with the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, received Crimson Spirit recognition.
Her nominator says, “Susan has demonstrated pride in work and attention to detail throughout her employment with CEE. Given that she works on grant proposals for CEE department and the Washington State Transportation center program (WSU-TRAC), she often needs to interface with our fiscal staff, sponsored project services, and staff from various centers. The intricacies of proposal submission with various organizations pose significant challenges to all staff involved. Susan is a leader in guiding the process smoothly and is known to be extremely professional in her dealings with all staff.”
Susan carries out a great many tasks for the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and maintains a high level of accuracy and efficiency while doing so. Her nominator also says, “During the 2017 calendar year, she submitted 95 grant proposals totaling $16,536,359 of which $2,269,537 were awarded! During 2017 she worked closely to educate, train, and guide 5 new faculty on the processes of submitting grant proposals. She worked closely with two of these faculty and the Office of Research to submit New Faculty SEED grants. Susan has a proven record of no audit findings and of understanding compliance regulations.” She is known in her department for her team-building and interpersonal skills, be it her willingness to cover the main office when others are unavailable, a willingness to adjust her own schedule to assist others, or communicating with other members of the faculty.
