WSU is excited to welcome back presenters Carlee Osburn and Jenn Nguyen, of Washington State Employee Assistance Program (EAP) on April 14, 2026, for two interactive workshops focused on communication, mindset, and workplace well-being. These workshop-style sessions go beyond information sharing. They create a space to learn, practice, and leave with strategies you can use immediately.

This spring’s offerings are now open for registration, and all employees are invited to join! Both sessions will be held in a hybrid format, ensuring you can attend from any location.

Compassion in Action

This interactive workshop explores how compassion and accountability can work together in everyday workplace interactions. Participants will reflect on communication patterns, examine common challenges in balancing empathy with expectations, and practice practical strategies for more supportive, effective conversations at work.

Designed to be discussion based and experiential, the session offers space to share insights, connect with colleagues, and apply concepts to real workplace situations.

Mindset, Reframing, and Cognitive Skills

Strengthen flexible thinking patterns that support resilience, problem solving, and emotional well being.

This session focuses on practical mental tools that help employees navigate challenges with more clarity, adaptability, and confidence. Participants will learn how to shift perspectives, interrupt unhelpful thinking patterns, and approach everyday situations with more creative, balanced strategies.

Employee Assistance Program

EAP offers a variety of webinars on self care, change management, and other related topics to support emotional and mental health and wellbeing. Register for an upcoming live session or view a pre-recorded session on-demand. Sessions are added regularly.

Policies

University supervisors may release employees from normal work duties to attend training programs which promote professional development or improve jobs skills.  An employee may take any amount of supervisor directed training, and an eligible full-time employee may use up to 96 hours of release time per fiscal year. An eligible part-time employee may use hours of release time prorated according to their FTE percentage.
