Washington State University will once again be conducting the Staff Mentoring and Professional Development Program. Applications for this once a year cohort are available now, through Friday, May 31, 2024.

This unique program is a rewarding experience for all participants, offering personal and professional development, networking opportunities, and increased self-confidence.

As a mentor, it is an opportunity to share your knowledge and wisdom with someone who can benefit from it, whether they’re just starting out, or seeking to advance their skills and career. The mentor role helps lay the foundation for success by providing constructive feedback and offering guidance and support tailored to the mentee’s needs and goals. Additional takeaways for mentors:

  • Personal growth and development
  • Gain new perspectives
  • Refine communication and leadership skills
  • Learn from the mentee’s experiences and insights

From the mentee’s perspective, the mentor/mentee relationship is also an opportunity to learn and develop, gaining insights and guidance from someone with expertise and experience in their chosen field or area of interest. A mentor can help their mentee navigate challenges and overcome obstacles. in addition to the above, mentees:

  • Gain valuable networking connections through a mentor
  • Improved confidence, both professionally and personally
  • Improved job performance, and career successes
