Kandi Kambitsch, fiscal specialist 2 for the Office of Student Involvement, received 2020 Crimson Spirit Recognition.

Ms. Kambitsch’s nominator praises the quality and quantity of her work: “The sheer amount of work that Ms. Kambitsch processes regularly is nothing short of amazing.”

Ms. Kambitsch works with students every day to support more than 165 budgets that are largely driven and expended by students. No matter how much training and proactive efforts are in place, it is usual that Ms. Kambitsch has to follow up with students and staff to facilitate expenditures and to keep everything on track. Ms. Kambitsch is also extremely organized and has exceptional knowledge of WSU and departmental procedures, policies, and practices. She always anticipates the daily needs of both students and staff.

Recently, two of the three fiscal team members left on extended medical leave. Ms. Kambitsch basically picked up the full load and is prepared to cover until her supervisor and peer return in the coming months. Ms. Kambitsch stepped up, and has continually stepped up in this way throughout her tenure with the Office of Student Involvement. She is “a remarkable model of hard work and dedication to all of those who are fortunate to work with her.”

Ms. Kambitsch is also eager to help out beyond her direct responsibilities, as she contributes to departmental strategic goals. In addition to her above-and-beyond work ethic, she is always supporting WSU student programs, fundraisers, and events. Ms. Kambitsch has attended numerous events and programs, including student events such as the Student Veteran’s Day celebration, the ASWSU Multicultural Fundraising Banquet, Crimson for a Cause, as well as divisional and University events. Students have certainly recognized Ms. Kambitsch’s excellence in her work, and in spring 2017 she was awarded the ASWSU Outstanding Staff Member at their program to honor outstanding staff and faculty.

Ms. Kambitsch has worked in the Office of Student Involvement for the past 5 years and is coming up on 25 years with WSU this February. She is constantly cheering on the Cougar nation and the hundreds of students that she directly works with each year. Her nominator concludes “Our department is fortunate to have Kandi on our team, and I believe she embodies the energy and greatness that is sought in relation to this award.”

Ms. Kambitsch is recognized for anticipating needs and taking appropriate action; exceeding expectations; and making noteworthy extra efforts.
