The Department Chairs and Directors Workshops are designed to address the needs of current and experienced chairs, faculty and administrators of academic units.

This series is intended to present information as it becomes most relevant to chairs throughout the academic calendar. Topics balance the development of technical skills with softer skills, both necessary in successful leaders. While all sessions are open to both new and returning academic unit leaders, and returning academic unit leaders are encourage to attend regularly, some are more directly relevant to new academic unit leaders.

This series emphasizes two approaches: interactive learning, and community building. As such, each session is designed to include structured Q&As, and a number of hands-on activities and practices, small groups discussions, etc., as well as built-in networking time.

Human Resource Services collaborates with the Office of the Provost to coordinate this annual series. Previous sessions of series courses are available as videostreams. (Note: Viewing of the videostreams will not be reflected in your HRS Online Learning Plan.)
