Learning Programs

Human Resource Services coordinates live, Instructor-Led Trainings (ILT) to WSU employees. Many of the courses are conveniently grouped within Learning Programs to address the specific needs and interests of employees. Based on your career development goals and professional responsibilities, you may choose to attend selected courses within a group or to complete the entire series.

Advisor Learning Program

Target Audience: New and experienced WSU Advisors

All advisors are required to complete the Foundations of Advising training upon hire. Once completed, advisors work towards Level II certification. There will also be required refresher modules for all advisors. More information can be found at https://advising.wsu.edu/advisor-learning-program/.

Department Chairs and Directors Training Workshops

Target Audience: Current Chairs, Faculty and Directors of Academic Units

The Office of the Provost sponsors this annual series to examine such topics as faculty performance reviews, personnel issues and recruitment, as well as graduate student and undergraduate student issues.

Essential Skills for the Developing Leader

Target Audience: Employees aspiring to WSU leadership positions

This Learning Program is designed to introduce critical skills and concepts to those aspiring to leadership positions with Washington State University.

Fiscal Management Training Resources

Target Audience: Employees with fiscal management responsibilities

Three concept areas have been developed to deepen knowledge and skills of WSU accounting systems, processes and procedures.

Research Administration Series

Target Audience: Employees with grant administration responsibilities

Designed specifically for those involved with the administration of sponsored programs, processes and requirements, this series is available through the combined efforts of Sponsored Program Services, the Office of Grant and Research Development, and Human Resource Services.

Training for WSU Supervisors

Target Audience: Current Supervisors and Managers

Designed to meet the entry-level supervisory training requirements defined by WAC 357-34 (employee training and development) and beyond, this series provides an opportunity to develop supervisory skills and refresh current knowledge.
