Leveraging Percipio to Advance Your Career
You’re ready to advance in your career, but maybe you’re uncertain about where to begin or not sure what tools are at your disposal, or where they are. Percipio, WSU’s online learning platform, offers a wide range of learning resources designed to help individuals develop skills and advance their careers through personalized learning paths and interactive content. Read on to learn more!
Role and Skill Ratings
Within your learner settings, you can customize the content Percipio will show you by updating your Personalization settings. You can build new skills by choosing from the recommendations provided by Percipio. Additionally, you can set your role which will then identify a set of skills which you can rate your level from novice to advanced to help track your progress. You can also add additional skills you would like to improve that are not part of the skill set for the role. You can even add an aspirational role from the Role Advisor feature in the menu to target skills for your next career move. These can be updated at any time to adjust for skills you’ve mastered and ones you’d like to learn next.
Skill Benchmarks
Skill Benchmarks are a way for you to gauge your proficiency in a particular skill. By answering a set of questions in a benchmark, you receive a proficiency score for a particular skill. You are not rated against others, but rather against a standard set of objectives defined by a subject matter expert. The results of your benchmark show how strong you are in that skill. Based on your results, Percipio immediately displays specific content recommendations that are targeted to those questions you answered incorrectly. You see these recommendations below the results. This helps you keep your focus on those things that you need to improve, and not those you already know. You can take a skill benchmark as many times as you like until you achieve the score you desire.
CAISYTM AI Simulations
Conversation AI Simulator allow employees to refine their communication through simulated conversations. Interactive learning enables individuals to actively engage and immerse themselves in practical application, ensuring that their learning is not only highly effective but also memorable. These simulations provide a low-pressure, judgement-free, and safe environment to practice communication skills required for difficult conversations and situations. Perhaps your next role includes supervising several employees; by practicing the First Time People Manager simulations, you can feel more comfortable and prepared for that role.
Certifications
According to Skillsoft’s annual Lean into Learning report, sixty-two percent of employees surveyed feel that the quality of their work improved thanks to certification, and they were also more engaged and performed duties faster. Continuous learning is what leads to continuous growth, empowering us to excel in our current roles and paving the way for the future opportunities we seek. While other factors certainly impact career advancement, certifications serve as a validation of your skills and knowledge and a mark of quality and reliability that you have the necessary skills to contribute to your organization. Notable certifications available through Percipio include the Project Management Institute (PMI)®, Digital Marketing Institute, Microsoft, and several IT certifications.
There is much more available to WSU employees to support their career journeys in Percipio, and the Learning and Organizational Development team is here to help if you need assistance finding the right tools to help you achieve your career goals. Remember, full-time eligible employees receive 96 hours per fiscal year towards professional development hours. You can find more information in the BPPM 60.72: WSU Policy on Release time for Training.
