August 2024 Learning and Organizational Development Updates & Insights
New! Outdoor Heat Exposure On-Demand Course
With summer’s arrival, Washington’s heat protection rules for outdoor workers are now in effect. Managed by the Department of Labor & Industries (L&I), these regulations require frequent breaks, shade, and cool drinking water to prevent heat-related illnesses. Protections kick in at 80 degrees Fahrenheit, with enhanced requirements at higher temperatures. Employers must provide paid cool-down breaks and monitor workers closely, especially during heat waves. Recent updates to the rules, effective year-round and starting at 80 degrees, represent a stricter approach compared to previous guidelines. Access WSU’s Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Outdoor Heat Exposure training in Percipio.
New! Title IX Regulations Instructor-Led Training
The Title IX Regulations training course is mandatory for investigators, decision-makers, Title IX Coordinators, Deputy Coordinators, and facilitators involved in Title IX matters. Title IX, a 1972 U.S. federal law, bans sex-based discrimination in federally funded educational programs. The law ensures gender equality in admissions, athletics, and employment, mandates complaint procedures, and is enforced by the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights to create a fair educational environment for all students.
