Sessions illustrating the connections between Finance, Grants, HCM, and Payroll

Employees who are curious about how their day-to-day work activities fit into a bigger picture, or how the data they enter and use in Workday plays a role across multiple processes and systems, are encouraged to attend the Workday TouchPoints session at the 2024 Elevating Cougs conference.

The Workday TouchPoints session provides insight into how processes and data in Workday connects with broader systems, information, and people across WSU. During this session, Modernization team analysts from Finance, Grants, Payroll, and HCM will walk attendees through a sample use case involving the recruitment and hire of a faculty member, and common tasks performed by that faculty member throughout their employment.

Through this use case, attendees will learn how common tasks and data flows through and impacts functional areas and processes including:

  • Recruiting, hiring, and employee lifecycle
  • Budgeting
  • Time, Leave, & Absence
  • Grant management
  • Payroll
  • Purchasing and expenses
  • Reporting

Speakers will also discuss the benefits of performing processes and maintaining data in an accurate and timely manner, and the potential risks of not doing so. The presentation will include time for an interactive Q&A session.

Attendees will receive a sneak peak of a new Workday TouchPoints guide which provides detailed insight into how Finance, Grants, Payroll, and HR processes and information relate to one another Workday.
