Face Coverings Required as of June 8
UPDATE: Beginning June 26, a statewide order requires all individuals in an indoor public space, or outside public space when unable to physically distance from others, will be legally required to wear a face covering. For more on the statewide face covering mandate, visit the Washington State Coronavirus Response (COVID-19) website
Beginning Monday, June 8, all employees will be required to wear face coverings, except when working alone in an office, vehicle, or at a job site, or when the job has no in-person interaction.
Employers must provide face coverings to employees, unless their exposure dictates a higher level of protection under the Department of Labor and Industries’ safety and health rules and guidance.
Employees may choose to wear their own facial coverings at work, provided it meets the minimum requirements. Refer to Which Mask for Which Task for additional details.
Face coverings are intended to assist with respiratory etiquette only and should not be considered personal protective equipment (PPE) for medical purposes. Check with EH&S for information regarding PPE related to your job duties.
