The following benefits summary provides basic information for WSU employees and our campus communities about WSU medical plans and coverages for measles.

WSU benefit eligible employees have access to Kaiser Permanente NW Classic and Consumer Directed Health Plans (CDHP); Kaiser Permanente WA Classic, Value, and CDHP; and Uniform Medical Plan Classic, CDHP, and Plus, with their particular plan choices based on where they reside. The following is a summary of what each plan’s Certificate of Coverage reflects in regards to immunizations, regardless of what version of the plan the employee is covered under. Under all plans, in the event measles is contracted, it will be treated as an illness, not a preventive service, and be subject to the plan’s deductible and subsequent coverage.

  • Kaiser NW: Immunizations are provided under their Preventive Care Services, which are covered at no cost to enrollees. Covered services and immunizations are those recommended by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Immunization Program, and the Health Resources and Services Administration.
  • Kaiser WA: Immunizations are provided under their Preventive Care Services, which are covered at no cost to enrollees. Covered services and immunizations are those recommended by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Health Resources and Services Administration.
  • Uniform: Immunizations are provided under their Preventive Care Services, which are covered at no cost to enrollees. Covered services and immunizations are those recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and those listed on the Healthcare.gov preventive care services website

The Certificates of Coverage reflect measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) immunizations are covered by all plans. Uniform has stated that the Titer Test is not covered as a preventative care service, but if needed, would be covered as a medical expense subject to deductible and co-pay. Kaiser NW and Kaiser WA enrollees are encouraged to contact their plan or healthcare provider to inquire if the Titer Test is covered.
