Effective October 1, 2025, most Administrative Professional (AP) and all represented Academic Student Employees (ASEs) will receive a percentage-based salary increase. Eligible Faculty will receive a merit-based salary increase.

For detailed information on eligibility, timelines, and processing, visit the General Salary Increase Information page.

Who is eligible to receive the increases on October 1, 2025, and how much are the percentage- and merit-based increases?

Administrative Professional (AP) Employees

AP employees will receive a 1.4% across-the-board increase.

The exceptions to the AP salary increase are:

  • No increase for retire-rehires who are in AP positions and who are less than 0.5 FTE
  • No increases for Administration Professional employees with a pro-rated base salary of more than $250,000
  • No increases for Administration Professional employees hired after December 31, 2024
  • Athletics Coaches on contracts are ineligible for increases at this time

Civil Service and Non-permanent employees received a salary increase July 1.

Faculty

The Faculty merit-based salary increase follows the process outlined in the Faculty Manual. The allocation available is 1.4%.

There are four exceptions to the Faculty merit-based salary increase:

  • No increase for faculty who are less than 0.5 FTE or hourly
  • No increase for retire-rehires since their appointments are not eligible for merit based salary increases
  • No increases for faculty with a pro-rated base salary of more than $250,000
  • No increases for faculty hired after December 31, 2024

The merit-based increase weighs three factors: professional development, superior merit, and equity:

  • Professional development reflects professional growth and service to the University
  • Superior merit reflects the degree of superior merit above a satisfactory rating on annual reviews
  • Equity is based on salary equity considerations

Academic Student Employees

Academic Student Employees (ASEs) covered by the WSU/UAW 2024-2026 collective bargaining agreement are eligible for the salary increase. See Article 35.4 Yearly Wage Increases for details. All salary ranges and hourly rates will increase by 3%. ASEs on grants and contracts will receive the increase.

When will the increases be processed?

The processing timeline for Faculty merit-based increases begins late August, 2025, and goes through September, 2025. The approved Faculty merit increases, along with the AP and ASE increases, are processed centrally in Workday between October 4 and October 10, with an effective date of October 1, 2025.

The increases will be paid in the October 25, 2025, paycheck.
